2021 Syrah, MJM 750ML
MJM is our signature Syrah based blend, representing our most dramatic and structured Syrahs which are given extended barrel aging In 2021 the MJM was selected from Stolpman (70%), Larner (17%), and John Sebastiano (13%). The wine was aged for a total of 27 months in French oak, 33% new (Sylvain, Ermitage & Seguin Moreau). The higher percentage of Ballard Canyon fruit gives the wine a redder fruit profile, but with fabulous underlying tension and minerality. New oak is well-integrated, focusing more on structure than aromatic or flavor influence, and the wine is silky and long.
97+ Points Jeb Dunnuck who said it “has … an almost Hermitage-like sense of structure and richness on the palate” and it was “flawlessly balanced” with a 20 year drinking window. Galloni gave it 96 points, calling it “a gorgeous wine.”
