2020 Pinot Noir, Black Label 750ML
This wine is a rigorous selection of our most dramatic, flavorful and expressive barrels in the cellar. Due to their intensity and extract, these barrels receive the longest barrel aging regime of the Pinot Noirs, and the resulting structure makes them the longest lived of the Pinot Noirs as well. It is a special wine, and has been recognized as “legendary” by Jeb Dunnuck, who gave the 2019 version a 100 point score.
The 2020 vintage was a classic cool vintage until a series of extreme heat waves in August and September. Our rapt attention to each vineyard block, some critical fine tuning to drop damaged clusters and rigorous sorting at harvest helped us bring in grapes of truly excellent quality. We call it a miracle vintage.
The 2020 Black Label is comprised of grapes from Radian (45%), Fiddlestix (35%) Bentrock (20%). The grapes were harvested in small, careful picks with strict field sorting, before being largely destemmed (10% whole clusters) and fermented with native yeasts before aging for 19 months on the less in the finest French oak cooperage (64% new, selected coopers) and bottling without filtration. The wine is expressive and had amazing textures and flavors with lots of fruit and great structure. It should age splendidly on its intensity and balance. Drink 2024-2035+.
The 2020 Black Label received 96 + from Jeb Dunnuck and 96 Points by Antonio Galloni. Jeb said, “It's medium to full-bodied on the palate and has perfect balance as well as ample tannic structure, a great mid-palate, integrated acidity, and one heck of a finish… it's certainly up with the crème de la crème of this vintage.”
Extremely Limited. Only 335 cases made. Most of which will go to the Wine Club.
